Italo's coverage
From North to South you can travel with Italo trains to different Italian cities, like Turin, Milan, Verona, Venice, Padua, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples and Salerno, from which you can get to the beautiful Amalfi coast. If you’re travelling to the four most important cities of Italy though, you can actually choose the railway station that best suits your needs: in Rome, Italo gets you either to Tiburtina or Termini stations; in Milan, you can drop off the train at Rogoredo or the Central station; in Turin, the choice is between Porta Susa and Porta Nuova stations and finally, if you’re going to Venice, Italo lets you arrive at Mestre or at Santa Lucia station.
Italo often promotes low cost trains and special fares: prices start from just € 9 and it is also easy to find good offers, for example if you’re travelling on Saturdays or book a return ticket for the same day.

For young travelers aged 7-13
Italo offers a useful service for children travelling alone. If they’re between 7 and 13 years old and travel in the Club Executive class, you can count on trained staff taking care of them.
Buying your Italo train tickets online
Apart from the official company site, you can buy your train ticket online using other services as well. On Wanderio, for example, you have the chance to check Italo train schedule and select the fare that best suits your needs. By searching on this site, you can also compare more providers’ schedules and prices, such as Trenitalia and Italo, avoiding multiple site searches and finding the best combination at the best price.
Once your booking has been confirmed, you will receive an email with your tickets attached as a .pdf file where you can find the information on your train, such as date, departure hour, assigned seat, departure and arrival stations and all the services included based on the fare you have selected.
When you’re on the train, show your ticket to the inspector when requested - whether it is printed or an e-ticket, the most important thing is that the PNR (e.g. the univocal code of your booking you can find on the top right side of your ticket) is perfectly readable. Need to find a train while on the go? You can use free Wanderio App for iOS and Android for booking and managing your tickets easily, sharing them with your travel companions or accessing to them even when offline. If you’re travelling with Italo you can even add your tickets to Apple Wallet to have them at hand the day of the departure.
Most services on Italo trains are actually available to whoever books with the company, regardless the selected fare.
Pets on the train
Travelling with your pet on Italo trains is free as long as it is small; in this case, you just need a carrier and their registration certificate. If it’s medium or large-sized, you must book the service in advance through the company call center; the ticket for your pet costs € 50 and you must keep it on a leash for the whole journey and, whenever requested, use a muzzle.
Luggage
On the Italo trains there is some dedicated space for placing your suitcases, folded bicycles or strollers (e.g. luggage racks or the space between the seats). For journeys in Smart ambients only, no baggage measuring over 75x53x30 cm is allowed.
Wi-fi on board
To access the free Wifi you just need a valid email address and the PNR, that is to say the univocal code of your ticket.
Entertainment
During your journey, you can use the free online entertainment portal offered by Italo, with news, music and movies.
Restaurant and food service
Vending machines are available on all trains for a quick snack or a hot drink; there is one in the 3rd wagon for those travelling in First class and another in the 7th for who’s travelling in Smart class. Finally, a welcome snack is served to travellers in First and Club Executive class.
Seats and assistance to the disabled
There are two seats exclusively dedicated to invalis on each Italo train; the wagons are also provided with Braille signage for blind people.
Italo deals
When booking your Italo ticket, you can choose from different fares.
Flex
This is the most flexible fare available. You’ll get a 80% refund if you need to cancel the booking and you can change the name or the date and hour of your train for free as many times as you need (provided that you submit your request before the departure).
Economy
This is cheaper than the Flex fare but refunds are not allowed. On the other hand, you can apply changes to your ticket, even though you need to pay a 20% surcharge and the difference between the previous ticket and the new one, if any. Changing the name of the passenger is always free instead.
Low cost
The cheapest fare, yet the less flexible. No refunds are allowed and there’s a 50% surcharge if you want to change the date or the hour of departure up to 8 days before travelling; however, you have the chance to change the name of the passenger at no cost for as many times as needed.
After choosing the fare, you can select the class to travel in.
Smart
It could be compared to the second class but in fact Italo’s Smart class is much more. Among the available services you can find unlimited free Wifi, individual tables and sockets. If you’re looking for entertainment on the go, then you can watch some movies in the dedicated “Cinema” wagon.
Comfort
This is actually the Smart class, but you can seat far more comfortably and enjoy more space.
Prima
In addition to all the services offered in the Smart class, you will be served a welcome snack and a newspaper (if travelling in the morning).
Club Executive
Just 19 seats for the most exclusive class on the Italo train. Or maybe you prefer relaxing in one of the two private rooms for four? A welcome snack, a newspaper and a cloakroom are some of the services you will find here.
