Here are six of the best Berlin street food stands, not to miss over your weekend in Berlin! As Kennedy could say: “Ich esse Berlinerisch!”

Curry 36

Let’s start with the most typical German street food: the currywurst. Boiled sausages, peeled or not, with tomato sauce and curry: a really German street food institution. If you want to taste something special, go to “Curry 36” (from the street number) where, if you are patient enough to stand the line, you can enjoy delicious wurstels, garnished with all kinds of sauces. “Curry 36” reputation is well-deserved: in the last years this small kiosk has become a food market chain, but we suggest that you go to the original one, located in Kreuzberg.

Das Hühnerhaus

The literal translation in English is “the Hen House”. To understand why, just visit this characteristic stand in the center of Görlitzer Park, where tens of grilled chicken, served with mixed salad or fries, are waiting for you. Don’t mind the long queue, it’s balanced by a fast and efficient service, in a typical German style.

Mustafa’s

The Döner kebab is a classical Berlin street food, introduced in the city by Turkish immigrants in the 70s: a thin slice of bread with browned meat, peppers, vegetables, sauces and spices, in a few years became the new national dish. And “Mustafa’s” is definitely the best place to enjoy it. During your weekend in Berlin you cannot miss a visit to this small but very famous stand, where for a few Euros you can enjoy this delicious Turkish dainty.

Enjoying the best Berlin burgers, sitting on empty beer crates. “Burgermeister’s” is a big little gem hidden in Berlin, located under a busy metro station: this kiosk offers delicious German beef burgers, served with chips and lots of melted cheese. Find it and lose yourself in this tasting experience.

Markthalle Neun

And last but not least: if you don’t wanna stop at the first bite, do not miss the Street Food Thursday at the Markthalle Neun Kreuzberg (from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m): a covered market with stands and kioks from all over the world, which has become a real must-visit in the German capital: you will find wurstels, kebab and falafel, but also Vietnamese rice, Italian pizza and Japanese wasabi.
