Most colorful cities of Europe and why you should visit them

We all know it, life is more beautiful when it’s full of colors. And this is true for holidays too: there is nothing better than a long weekend in a beautiful town full of colors. So, today we take you with us to discover the European most colored cities, in a fantastic tour from Bristol to Merano, through a tour to Cinque Terre. Are you ready? Let’s go!

Cinque Terre

Let’s start our trip from the Italian most colored corner: Cinque Terre. Five small towns on the Liguria coast (Riomaggiore, Vernazza, Corniglia, Monterosso and Manarola), five villages where the walls painted in red, pink, yellow and green are reflected by the blue sea water. You can visit them all in a single weekend: from a village to the other it is just 7 minutes by train. Bristol

Colmar

Let’s now move to France to visit an amazing town made of colors and wooden houses: Colmar. Enjoy a boat tour along the city canals, called “Petite Venise” (Little Venice), where you could enjoy all the beauty of its typical old colored buildings. Move then to visit Plàce de la Cathèdral, full of XVI century palaces and houses, and walk across the flea markets on the old pedestrian area. Burano

Think about colors: you can’t avoid thinking about Burano: this marvelous Italian town, established on an island close to Venice, is truly worth a visit. Once you are here you will love the many colors of its buildings: Visit the “Tre Ponti”, connecting the three Burano most colored streets (via Giudecca, via San Mauro and via San Martino Sinistro), full of small shops, suggestive tiny restaurants and many houses with colored walls. Back in the days Burano sailors decided to paint their houses in many different colors: this way, it’s said, they could recognize their houses by the sea, when they were coming back home from fishing in foggy mornings. The best way to get to Burano is going by train to Venice, and then take a ship to there: start searching now among trains from Rome to Venice!

Breslavia

Breslavia, a Polish colored city, has not been nominated 2016 European culture capital by coincidence. This city has a dynamic cultural life: shows, music festivals, art exhibitions, readings. Once you will be here we suggest to begin your tour from Rynek, the majestic central square overlooked by the huge gothic style city hall; afterward, you can visit the surrounding old town. Do not miss the nightlife here: Breslavia is a young university city, and there are plenty of chances to have fun. You can have a beer tour in św. Antoniego street, that hosts pubs, clubs, and bars. You can get here by flight (there are many low-cost companies flying here), or go from Milan to Breslavia by bus.

Copenhagen

A livable and clean metropolis that you can easily visit by bike. But Copenhagen is much more: it is also a colored and happy city: the Danish capital (and maybe the most bike-friendly city in the world) has got a beating colored heart, Christiania, a city into the city, a “hippie oasis” full of colors and curious, fascinating buildings. And if you love colors you can’t skip a visit to Nyhavn, the Copenhagen harbor, where the orange, yellow and red facades of the houses give a touch of color to the city cold atmosphere. Porto

A city made of sea and tradition. We are talking about Porto, the North Portuguese pearl: established on the shores of Douro, Porto is famous for its many colored houses built along the river, reflecting on its water.
