Flying Easyjet – Dealing with the hand luggage

Easyjet on Nice

When you’re going on a short getaway you aim to put everything in a small suitcase and travel just with the essential, and – let’s say it – saving on the hold luggage fares imposed by low cost airlines such as Ryanair or Easyjet is a pretty good incentive as well! If you’re about to fly with the orange British company, here is some advice to travel with the hand luggage without leave anything at home.

Easyjet hand luggage weight and size

With respect to Ryanair limitations on the hand luggage, Easyjet allows your suitcase to be a few centimeters bigger (56 x 45 x 25 cm to be exact). On the other hand, you’d better know the airport staff will be rather rigorous from that point of view. Wheels and handles are included in the maximum size suggested by the company and, if your suitcase doesn’t fit their measurement devices you will have to board it (and pay for it!). As far as weight is concerned instead, ou can breathe a sigh of relief – there’s no limitations on that side.

What if I don’t respect the airline limitations?

If the worst happens, you won’t have an ace in the hole unfortunately. You can try to get rid of some clothes but if you got to the airport alone you will have to pay. At the check-in desk, the surcharge is € 47 but in case you get “caught” at the gate, you must pay as much as € 60.

No tricks please

More bad news – If with Ryanair or some other airlines you can bring some more things with you by putting them in a small extra bag, this is not possible when flying Easyjet. From smartphones to keys, from documents to books, everything must be in the luggage, unless you opted for a Flexi fare when booking your flight or travel with a baby under 2 years old (in these cases, max dimensions for your bag are 45 x 36 x 20 cm). How can you overcome this issue?

The ideal solutions and a possible alternative

Of course, you should try first to put everything in the luggage. A guide for packing like a ninja can help you get through this! If it doesn’t work, you will need to add a hold luggage to your reservation. You just have to log in the booking management panel on the airline official website and add it while checking in online for your Easyjet flight. Price range from € 16.90 to € 39 based on your destination.

Well, now that you know everything about Easyjet limitations on the hand luggage, there’s only one question left: what will your next destination be?
