The most exciting ice skating rinks in Europe

Palais des Glaces

We all know it: winter is a lovely season just for few things. One of them is ice-skating. A beautiful hobby that literally means Christmas, cold and fun, either loved by grown-ups and children. So, since we are in winter time, we want to talk about the best ice skating rinks in Europe. From the beautiful and fairytale “Ice Palace’ in Paris to the majestic ice rink in London, passing through Milan, Amsterdam and Vienna, here is our list of the best ice skating rinks in Europe. Have a good trip, and have fun on the ice!

Grand Palais des Glaces, Paris

Our list starts with a great winter classic, the “Great Palace of ice” (this is the meaning of the French name), in Paris. This wonderful 2000 square metres ice rink, the world biggest indoor one, a magic of ice, light and cold, close to Champs Elysee, in the shadow of a majestic glass and iron building. Live the atmosphere of the Ville Lumiere in a Christmas light and enjoy all the magic of skating in Paris.

Somerset House Ice Rink, London

For all ice skating lovers London is just the place to be: every neighborhood of the city has its own ice-skating rink. We want to suggest the Somerset House Ice Skate Rink. A really charming and suggestive highlight, with a sight on one of the most beautiful ancient buildings of London, Somerset House. What are you waiting for? Book a flight and get to London!

Wiener Eistraum, Vienna

“Ice dream”: that’s the meaning of “Wiener Eistraum”, name of the wonderful ice rink placed in Rathaus Platz, Vienna city hall square. Enjoy a fairytale afternoon on the ice, then visit one of the many Christmas market of the Austrian capital, tasting a slice of Sacher Torte and some hot wine. Book a bus or a train and reach Princess Sissy’s hometown: you won’t regret it.

Ice skating rink in square Gae Aulenti, Milan

Skating on the ice surrounded by the iron and glass shapes of Milan skyscrapers. This is the experience, unusual but surely suggestive, felt by the skaters on the ice rink in Aulenti square, Milan, in the Porta Nuova area. Why don’t you try it? Get to Milan by train, bus or even a flight, and enjoy the modern atmosphere of Milan.

ICE Amsterdam, Amsterdam

Hopefully the winter will be so cold in Amsterdam that it will be possible to skate on the frozen city canals: a unique experience, but unfortunately it doesn’t happen every year. Nevertheless, the Dutch city has many ice skate rinks to offer to its many visitors: one of the most beautiful and famous is the one placed in Museumplein, Amstedam’s big museums square. Skate in the cold surrounded by the Van Gogh museum, the City Hall and many other historical city buildings. Fly to Amsterdam and don’t miss the magic of Dutch winter!
