A low cost trip to Lisbon

Organizing a cheap trip to Lisbon has never been easier. With our advice you can discover the Portuguese Capital city without spending a lot of money. Put on walking shoes, Lisbon is a city full of ups and downs and if you go in the summer bring with you some bathing suit, the ocean is waiting for you! Visit the city travelling by the characteristic tram, if you catch them on the fly and you hold on, you can get them for free! Make at least one breakfast with hot pasteis.

The trip

Lisbon

Organize your trip to Lisbon in advance: you’ll get cheaper flights especially if you choose low fare airlines. You can move from the airport to the city center by underground, bus and taxi. The city center is about 15 minutes from the airport.

Accommodation

One of the cheapest solutions to sleep is renting an apartment. Otherwise, if you book early, you can find good deals for hotels. We suggest that you stay in the city centre near the Baixa district among its neoclassical architecture. Other nice neighborhoods are Bairro Alto, Chiado, Alfama and Belem.

What makes Lisbon the perfect travel destination? The Ocean! And the nice thing, is that you can get to the Ocean by public transport. Get ready, the water will be cold, especially if you’re used to the Mediterranean and there will be a lot of wind. Take the Cascais line and stop in one of these beaches: Carcavelos, Estoril, Cascais Parede. If you are looking for more isolated beaches, get to Costa da Caparica with a bus leaving from Praça Espanha.

If you are close to the Monastery de Hieronymus visit Cafiteria de Belem where you can taste the delicious pasteis. Eat them when they are still warm! In the Chiado district you can eat in the taverns and then listen to some music in Lisbon most famous nightclubs. If you like to dance you should absolutely go to the Tagus and go in the Docas: you will find bars, nightclubs and restaurants in a long alley located by the river.
